Task: Undertaking of underwater concrete injection works to reinstate wall condition at Galway Harbour – Dock Gates

Methodology:

AQS personnel carried out a site risk assessment and Safe Plan of Works upon arrival to site.  Upon completion of Safe System of Works all parties involved in the specific works were in agreement with the SSW and each individual party signed the SSW immediately prior to works commencing. All persons working on the project including supervisory staff wore life-jackets at all times. Pre-equipment checks were carried out and the equipment sign in sheet was registered.

Cleaning equipment was lowered and the cleaning of the wall surface began.  The cleaning process continued unit all marine debris had been removed from the areas for repair. Our pump operator and lead diver set up and pre-checked all injection equipment. Once checks had been completed the divers entered the water, a visual inspection of the wall was carried out.

Stabilisation method for the adhesion of the repair chemical was inserted to the existing structure.  The resin injection process began at this stage. The process continued on both sides of each gate until the voids had been sealed. A remote CCTV camera unit was be used to monitor works and divers safety. This was operated from our main line rig.

Note: MC Chemical is environmentally friendly and had no impact on marine life.
